Your guided mindful grounding practice to hold you steady through any emotional storm

How can we be present with what feels so unbearably hard? 

How can we coexist with our feelings when everything in us is asking for our avoidance?  In this Mindful Grounding Practice we will connect to three essential steps for holding ourselves steady when big emotions surface. Creating space to feel through any discomfort and pain that feeling anxiety, overwhelm, sadness, anger, grief, guilt, shame or any other difficult emotion brings. 

Together we will:

Acknowledge and honour your inner experience by noticing and naming what is circulating and pushing you around so you can create some space to open up and allow your feelings to move more freely.

Connect with your body to ground into a sense of safety and gain as much control as possible over your physical actions, while facilitating movement of charged emotions through the body.

Engage with your surroundings to ground into the present moment and what you are doing so you can continue on doing the things that matter most.

    What Can we Learn by Being WITH our Feelings?

    Fighting, avoiding, escaping, numbing, or distracting yourself from feeling will intensify those feelings over time, making you feel more stuck (opposite of helpful!). By moving away from feeling, you deny and invalidate the reality of your feelings and inner experience – feeding shame and fostering disconnection from your true essence.

    INSTEAD:

    • We can acknowledge and be WITH our feelings

    • We can honour our inner reality and allow our emotions to be present

    • We can feel, and move through what our emotions are asking us to process

    • We can affirm that what we are experiencing is difficult but VALID, and accept our experience as an invitation to lean towards the discomfort in order to move more freely through life.

    Think about all the difficult thoughts, emotions, sensations, and memories you are experiencing as an emotional storm. This practice will guide you to connect to various anchor points that will help you to remain steady while the storm passes. It will not make the storm go away, and it will not act as further distraction from what you’ve been trying to avoid.

      Let’s Settle In Together

      I invite you to spend some time here with me, giving yourself a 20 minute window (or more if you have it) to tune into this 15 minute guided practice. 

      This practice involves turning towards what is here in the present moment with openness and curiosity. Noticing, and holding space for what feels uncomfortable.  The more we can be with the discomfort the more we give it permission to move freely through our bodies.  When we allow it to move freely, we are no longer fighting. We are honouring our truth and lived experiences.  We are creating space. We are feeling forward.

      It may sound scary, it may sound impossible. But I will be right with you, holding all the space you need to feel safe and supported.
